In a world of brokeness, adversity respects no age, no race, no gender, no income level, nor the good or bad, moral or immoral. Adversity even strikes repeatedly in the lives of some poor souls. Often our only choice in the face of adversity is our response to its pressures.
When we experience the sheer power of pounding waves near the seashore, it seems our struggling against them finds us pressed hard into the sand, choking and chafed and fearful. But if we relax in the power of the sea and ride the wave in its entirety, sometimes, maybe often, we can land even higher and safer than where we started.
The higher ground is the prize for our deliberate responses to God’s invitation to trust Him.
“. . . we are no longer to be children, tossed here and there by waves and carried about by every wind of doctrine . . ., but speaking the truth in love, we are to grow up in all aspects into Him, who is the head, even Christ.” (Ephesians 4:14-15 NASB*)
I designed this art piece with the intent to inspire those facing challenging circumstances, and as a monument to those who weathered the storm’s raging and discovered the Higher Ground.
