Our family travelled the United States for eleven years in full-time ministry. We had opportunities to visit hundreds of homes in nearly every state. We found the most hospitable welcome in the presence of the unselfconscious, and amidst those who offered their hospitality with sincere consideration for their guests without apology for life being actively engaged. How sweetly rejuvenating is the host or hostess who can make one feel welcome and important, a delightful interruption and a most enjoyable pleasure!
Throw off the imaginary expectations ~~~ genuine hospitality makes home a sacred haven, full of comfort and refreshing and grace, for those who live there and those who are privileged to visit. We are not the sum of our home’s grandeur or austerity; we house Him who summed up the entire universe and enters eagerly when we answer His gentle knock. Our hearts’ condition is expressly relative to the wholehearted hospitality we are able offer to Jesus.
